I am a Lecturer in Political Economy at King’s College, London. Prior to starting at KCL, I was an Assistant Professor of Political Science and member of the Cornerstone Integrated Liberal Arts Program at Purdue University. I received my Ph.D. in Political Science from Duke University in 2024 and my M.A. in Analytical Political Economy from Duke in 2019.
I am a historical political economist and game theorist; my research focuses on the origins and evolution of political and economic institutions, the nature of authority and legitimacy, and the intersection of religion and politics. I use formal theory as well as quantitative analysis of original historical datasets, with an empirical focus on the British Isles. Methodologically, I am particularly interested in the interpretive problems of historical social science research. My research has been published in the Journal of Theoretical Politics, the Journal of Historical Political Economy, Public Choice, and Constitutional Political Economy. My work has received the Elinor Ostrom Prize for the best article published in the Journal of Theoretical Politics and the Vincent and Elinor Ostrom Prize for the best paper and presentation by a graduate student at the Public Choice Society Meetings.
